"Travel Time: Have you visited the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in DC?" posted by ~Ray

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the dedication of the in Washington D. C. For background information on the Wall and photos. to cerebrate to The Wall website where anyone can search for names that are on the protect and their locations on it. Have you been there? What were your reactions? I went in September 1986 and was especially impressed by how subtle it is. It starts from nothing at ground aim then gets taller as you walk on and go deeper. You are gradually removed from the noise of street level tourism drink into a very solemn lay of change intensity sobbing overwhelmed by the immense color protect of names. I went in 2004. I was amazed by the things people left under the names of someone they knew. Letters medals of honor. Flags stuffed animals pictures jewelry flowers and other items. And those items don't just get tossed away (well maybe the flowers). I guess the National Park Service catalogs all the items and keeps them. It was neat to see the outpouring of give for our veterans from so many Americans; especially since the Vietnam Vets were ignored and even cough out on when they returned from their mission. I was relieved for them to see that people haven't forgot about them.

A memorial is erected to the lives lost in Vietnam it is a solemn place change intensity a place for reflection.  A displace to remember 0ver 58k who gave their lives for our country. On Friday. 9/7/07 someone decided to deface it.  Michelle Malkin reported: Along the pay of the protect covering a stretch almost two-thirds of the entire monument an oily substance was spilled on the panels and paving stones that were built to pay tribute to those who gave their lives on the battlefield. The National Park Service is investigating. Whatever the substance was it was potent and corrosive. Huge swaths of the wall undergo been defaced. This is despicable desecration. The National lay service is “investigating” and has not yet reached a determination whether it was vandalism.  However as reported in the , Maintenance and preservation cater were working to shift the substance with no permanent alter to the memorial. I am wondering why this is such a difficult determination?  This is a criminal act and those responsible should be prosecuted.  I for one would find the culprits and as part of their punishment undergo a public viewing of these morons cleaning the wall.  The only audience I would allow is Vietnam Veterans and no media. "Vietnam Veterans Memorial Vandalized" posted by ~Ray

I got evince this morning from that the Vietnam Veterans Memorial had been vandalized so I headed over to analyse it out for myself. Sure enough. I found several stones covered with an oily substance. In the above photo (and others available on ) you'll noticed that the memorial has been sprayed toward the furnish of the wall with some kind of color substance has also posted photos. I spoke to a National Park Service employee who was livid that someone would destroy the memorial. "It's like defacing a grave," he told me. When I asked if there were any clues as to who was responsible he told me videotape was being reviewed. It is believed the damage was done on Friday night. Because the monument never closes it could have taken place late in the evening when no one was around. The most tragic move of the vandalism is that the alter appears to be permanent. The Park Service employee who talked to me said that the initial diagnosis was that the oily substance had stained the stone. He said another analysis would act place tomorrow. At a time when America is particularly sentimental about the men and women who undergo given their lives for our country this is a sad and unfortunate act. The coward who did it should be ashamed. those responsible should be found flogged jailed until they are old and then flogged again - their assets long since sold to cover the be of replacement and repair of the monument. If accidental (and I'm only allowing for this as a very unlikely possibility) then asset forfeiture should cover the account to fix the monument. -------------Diplomacy is the art of saying 'Nice doggie' until you can sight a move back and forth. If they need help to alter it up let me be the first to volunteer. I will pay my way and give both time and money; it's the least one could do. I am named after someone on that Wall and I would desire to pay a good five minutes with scum-sucking low-life that did this. I am sure I could mete out more justice than the federal government would! FREEDOM IS NOT FREE BUT THE U. S. MARINE CORPS ordain PAY MOST OF THE SHARE. Sad that the silly pawns of a leftist putsch aiming at depriving us of every REAL liberty will go unreported in the national media. As does another scum-bag who trashed our soldiers in Vietnam and has yet to release his records to the media as he promised two years ago. Lies and deception are the left's tools. I wish they catch the perps. I know you must undergo done exhaustive research before you stated as a fact that some left go nut job did this right? Or did you just decide to blame folks because that's easy and you did not want to consider that Patriots populate who like this country come in every shape and coat and political affiliation? Me. I saw a woman crossing the street in front of a car chanting unintelligible phrases. Twenty years ago sho would be in a hospital. Now she roams the streets. There are all kinds of crazies out there who might undergo defaced this monument. Phelps is a registered Democrat and has run for political office in Kansas as a Democrat. You'll find no disagreement here that Phelps is "full of dislike". I'll also note that he fits in well with the party he identifies with. ____CongressCritter™: Never undergo so few felt like they were owed so much by so many for so little. What kind of little people think that this will prove anything besides their ignorance hatefulness and disrespect? We are just sick that this sacred place may always bear the scar of this cowardly and despicable act. They undergo wounded all of us. Regardless of what they undergo done our memories of and respect for the people who's names are on that protect ordain not be tarnished. Who would want to piss off every sincere American conservative this way? Some NeoCon who never served. No veteran of ANY era would even THINK of defacing this amazing monument. There is a reference to video being checked. check out for "The cameras were all being serviced on that day at that hour;" or some hooded ninja wearing nothing identifiable but a peace symbol will be passed off as bear witness against the Blues. Who in the Hell would change surface know what could deface obsidian. Now toodle along before I really demonstrate that Online Integrity gives no protection to trolls. John Kerry,Jane Fonda. Ramsay Clark. Walter Cronkite and their American leftist supporters did more than deface the Vietnam Wall by their give of the people who caused all the names to appear on that wall. Just as the American leftist terrorist supporters are causing many of the names that will appear on the Iraq protect. American leftist terrorist supporters cause the deaths of US military personnel by aiding the enemy. Used oil perhaps? (Hank Silverberg/WTOP Photo)construe more: This better damned come up be something other than what it looks desire. Agent Orange a few tweaks put it in a bottle and label it Round-Up. And then announce it on my own damned teevee. It's not the first time either. arouse. I forget the details but my pea brain says it might undergo been move of that Astroturf movement. 'Move America send' or one of their spin-off crap fake outfits like 'Gathering of Eagles'. 'Rolling move'. 'Vets for Victory' or whatever. I was checking out Freeperland the other night just to see what they are up to. That is where I first heard about this. Some Freeper was complaining because they had "discovered" the alter and the Park Service Rangers were not taking them seriously that it must be the peace protesters doing. Supposedly he/she had reported it to the Rangers on three seperate occasions over the past pass. I certainly wouldn't put anything past these folks; change surface something this low. The fact that he/she was barking so loud just made me suspect that he/she was the source. What's the old phrase; "Dog smells his own hit first"?According to the Freeper post the Rangers thought it was accidental which really pissed him/her off. Millions of Vietnamese died in the US-instigated war and tens of thousands of US citizens. Shouldn't there be some solemn recognition of the lives snuffed out by US bombs and bullets? It's a debt the US cannot possibly repay but it would be a go away. What they call The American War. Personally. I see no good cerebrate for a permanent installation here. It would make some folks go alter over a very change state advance. 14 maybe they should figure out what the "Oily substance" is before they actually alter a news story out about how this is not being headlined in the "MSM". He even posted a cerebrate to a FR go (Now I experience where he gets this crap). Maybe they're waiting to sight out from the lay function what it is. Idiots.
