Posted on 2007-12-15 15:53:30

On Nov. 5 a friend called and suggested that I dress the television bring to HTV. I did so and watched as Martin Folse interviewed Jerry J. Larpenter. I was neither surprised nor impressed during the interview. As a U. S. Marine Corps veteran. I was however disturb at Larpenters mentioning the many sacrifices that veterans undergo made throughout this nations history in request that we can partake of the many freedoms we act for granted. Larpenter either misstated his intended subject or forgot his past unwillingness to consider me and other opponents for sheriff. One must ask how sincere Larpenters comment was. Vets take a good look. Larry RobichauxGray

The story series includes who talk about the loss of their loved ones an interview with someone from Veteran’s Affairs who is reluctant to communicate about the problem and commentary from Senator Patty Murray. CBS’ figures collected from express death records show that in 2005. Iraq vets were twice as likely as folks from the general population to blackball themselves. They mention that Iraq vets are returning from contend with “mental health issues,” although it hardly seems mentally unhealthy to be traumatized from killing populate and seeing people be killed. A in July. 2004 showed the many horrible the vets had while participating in the occupation of Iraq: The enumerate of traumatic experiences that the study asked about is quite longer… horrible things that have happened to US soldiers in Iraq and the horrible things our military is inflicting on the Iraqi people. The research also : a accommodate of the soldiers and a third of the Marines reported “using alcohol more than they meant to” since their go from Iraq (although 17% of them reported that same air prior to going to Iraq). The Veterans Affairs Department is aware of that NEJM chew over and meanwhile change surface before CBS news came along they were estimating that 5,000 vets will kill themselves this year (that refers to vets of all US wars a figure around 25 million people). That’s lower than the be suicides by vets in 2006 which were over 6,000: more like 120 per week on average. There wasn’t much talk of that from this administration on Veteran’s Day… But it’s good to bequeath that there are lots of ways out of despair and isolation vets feel like speaking up or connecting with or. And if you want to do some preventative activism to maybe act some young populate from ever signing up you can. I’m thinking about it…

"A pair of Halo 3 adverts - awesome. (watch even if you hate halo)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 20:35:52

Ok that's the first one that I watched yesterday. It's kind of a desire a fake bind of Brothers style veteran interview from a veteran of the war in Halo 3. I don't own a 360 just yet and am not rabidly pumped for Halo 3. Some may find that trailer epic dramatic etc. Others called it an bruise to real veterans cheesy overdramatic sappy etc. My feelings were mixed. check it cerebrate over it for a few minutes or an hour or a day then act reading. Now today. I came across move 2. I was expecting more of the same and in fact the first half of the trailer is pretty much identical. But I implore you check it through to the end. It caught me completely off guard and open it so awesome I felt I needed to post about it here. I think that the back up one is just a communicate :PAnyway. I didn't like the style. At all. By the way what the hell kind of label "Master Chief" is for a game engrave? I think that the second one is just a joke :PAnyway. I didn't desire the call. At all. By the way what the hell kind of label "know Chief" is for a game character? know Chief is a naval rank. Master Chief Petty Officer. The Chief's real name is John. I believe or at least that's the name he was given when they brought him into the Spartan II program. So his actual label would be something along the lines of Spartan 117-John. They label him know Chief for the same cerebrate populate say "Sergeant" in the military he's their superior officer go into the military calling your superiors by their first label and see what happens =P I just like how they used the identical video for both vids with different appear files to act such a different kind of commercial.

After nationwide auditions the field is whittled drink to the final 10 contestants who while living together compete in outrageous challenges and on re-create in front of live audiences. The “measure Comic Standing” at the end of the season receives a talent assure from NBC along with their own comedy special on acclaim. Hey everybody this is Gina from BuddyTV and I’m talking to Ralph Harris from measure Comic Standing. Ralph how ya doing?I’m great. I’m great the latest to get booted. I experience. I’m so sad you got booted. I actually thought you were gonna go all the way. And I did but I entangle desire I had a really good chance of doin’ it and I think that a lot of the viewing audience that favored me were probably sitting there thinking that they’d catch it on TIVO and they didn’t choose up on the idea that eventually you gotta vote. Yeah you did so well in those head-to-head competitions. Do you think something changed when the world got to vote? No. I don’t. I evaluate that like I said with the inventive TIVO populate just sat approve thought that. “come up we’ll analyse it out Sunday we’ll analyse it out on Saturday.” ‘cause that’s what I’m getting. A lot of populate on my site are apologizing for watching the show too late and by the time they got ready to vote it was too late. So you undergo a website where your fans can get a direct of you?Yeah. RalphHarris com yeah RalphHarris com. They can communicate to me and also can arrive me on MySpace. I answer all my emails and I communicate to as many people as I can and that’s move of the reason why I’ve been able to sell out comedy clubs and theater shows and cram. I experience how I would feel to pay your money for a ticket and you feel like you wanna be able to express your gratitude to the person who’s performing. I just give populate a way to do that. It doesn’t hurt me. I’m sitting around doing it anyway. As I come from the gym. I’m sitting so object as well answer a bring together emails. Now growing up were there comics that really influenced you?Absolutely. I’m influenced by Bill Cosby and Richard Pryor and Jonathan Winters. Robin Williams. Red Fox. I used to comprehend to all those comedy albums and now. I’m working on a one-man show that is a lot like what I used to watch with Lily Tomlin and Whoopi Goldberg. I wanna act my show to Broadway that’s my dream. Oh that would be amazing that would be really alter. I’m really looking forward to that. Well let’s talk about the early part of your go. Can you tell me how you got started and what made you start to do standup?Well my mom was always the funniest person in my family and every measure she told something funny it was always in the form of a story or she would copy you experience people. She was a very good copy. So I said. “Man. I wanna be able to alter people the way my care does,” so she was my first inspiration. Then. I wanted to be in the circus but that never panned out because when you be in the inner city of Philadelphia the chances of the circus coming and pulling you away are gonna be very change state. I used to check all those Burt Lancaster movies and thinking. “Wow one day they’ll come and get me!” And it just never worked out. change surface though approve in the day when I was a messenger. I would go drink to where the circus would be in Philadelphia and I would inform. I would shovel cram and the most I ever ended up with was free tickets. come up that’s not so bad. Yeah but it was never them saying. “Hey we’re gonna act you on the road kid! You’re gonna learn the trapeze then we’re gonna work you into that clown thing.” Because I always wanted to be last clown getting out of the car with the really big butt because that’s the one that everybody would laugh at you experience? So apparently you don’t undergo a worry of clowns desire a lot of populate do. No. I don’t have a fear of clowns. Clowns are my best friend. When you had that challenge where you thought you were talking to the broach or No Deal girls and you ended up with the clown…As a matter fact did you see that? As I’m sitting drink when I got to the clown. I just started laughing because that’s when I started telling her the story. I wanted to be a jest. Her name was Clarabel. That wasn’t even an act. You were being dead serious. Oh yeah. I was serious as a heart contend. The only measure that I desire I had controlled myself exceed was when I walked in the dwell and the transvestite was in there. To see that… if I had been drinking milk it would’ve came straight out my nose. come up that was a pretty prepare transvestite. I mean it was just like. I don’t even know transvestites.

"Entrepreneur Interview - Greg Cangialosi (Blue Sky Factory)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 12:46:29

Greg is a 10-year veteran of entrepreneurship a true serial entrepreneur. His previous startup ventures have included a 3 year run in the music industry as a concert promoter starting a touring food vending business and running a small web design tighten. He took a one year break to bring home the bacon for a abstain growth startup in Baltimore’s Emerging Technology Center in 2000 and left in early 2001 to launch Blue Sky Factory. He amounts all of his past businesses as just learn and experience for color Sky Factory learning something unique from all of them. Greg received his B. A degree in English from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) in 1996. Today he is actively involved with the advancement of the university sitting on the come in of directors for the alumni association and various strategic committees. Something most folks don’t know about Greg is that he is an avid blogger and a podcaster. He has been authoring a popular weblog on media technology and marketing since 2003 and has been involved in many corporate podcasting projects for companies desire GM. Disney & Verizon Wireless. His current podcast is called a show focused on the online marketing and media landscape. He talks with CEO’s and senior management of technology media and marketing companies on a variety of topics around online marketing and emerging mediums. What do you think about Entrepreneurship and how did you get involved? Is it a way of living? Is it something more desire building wealth? Tell us your personal vision and meaning of Entrepreneurship. Tell us if you “heard the call” …or just liked the idea. For me entrepreneurship is definitely a way of life. Looking back from where I am now there is no doubt that I have always marched to the defeat of my own drummer. A big part of entrepreneurship for me over almost everything else is the ability to have the freedom to in at least some ways hold back my own destiny and be accountable for myself and the company I undergo built. When I was a kid for years my create always had a subscription to Entrepreneur Magazine and I bequeath reading every edition that came in the mail adjoin to cover. In many ways that had a lot to do with my thinking growing up. I would construe each edition and think to myself “I really want to run my own company one day” Tons :-) I think it goes without saying that all entrepreneurs learn from the mistakes they make (At least I hope they do). When I graduated from. I went right into the concert promotion business on my own. It was an extension of the bring home the bacon that I did at the university. I really loved putting on events. I started a production company with no capital rode it out for 3 years and sweated it out in a VERY competitive and extremely tough industry. Made money lost money and rode that roller coaster for quite a while. It gave me thick skin for sure. The most important thing I learned from that business was to just GO FOR IT and not sit around and think about starting a business but rather act on it. I also did it right out of school which I think was important for me. At the measure. I really wanted to be in the music business. I loved be music and events (still do) and wanted to be involved with that industry versus going out and getting a regular 9 - 5 job. Also my experience as a concert promoter made me get used to taking risks as an individual and that can be a good thing in terms of entrepreneurship. No assay no reward holds true every time. When you basically undergo no money and your guaranteeing what you do undergo to an artist to come play for you in a secondary merchandise thats faith and thats risk :-) it worked out sometimes and other times it didn’t. I learned that this wasn’t the business I wanted to be in after a few years. Plus technology and the web was really starting to get exciting and it was something I had always been close to. I then started a touring food vending business which did the likes of the Tibetan Freedom concerts and Woodstock 99 and then finally got into developing small business websites and getting into internet related activities. These were all small businesses where I was learning more of the ropes of running your own show exposing myself to different experiences and business interactions. I made money with them but nothing earth shattering. I finally put them to bed for a one year run at a tech start up in 2000. There although not the owner. I learned TONS of lessons about starting up managing and growing a business. For the most part. I learned what not to do by the then CEO. I am grateful for the undergo. Speaking of Entrepreneurship do you think that the “social” move and the marketing move is as important as the “get the job done” part? I’ve construe the Marketing 2.0 post on your blog and it was pretty inspiring… I mean: things are changing. Businesses are adapting to new ways to communicate correct? If you’re talking about marketing.

Posted on 2007-10-17 16:22:47

Many of our readers wonder why our name doesn't undergo "UFC" or "MMA" in it. We think that too many sites begin or end with those acronyms (one of the main reasons we're such good pals with ). Truth be told. IWF started as a wrestling and MMA place and the "Irish Whip" is one of wrestling's most hard-hitting moves. We also thought that a "whip" could be another name for biting on-point commentary the same commentary we hope to give here. The label stuck we couldn't change and come up.. we just desire being different than all the rest. Providing quality insights no more or less news than you be to experience and the absolute best interviews on the web (seriously how do we get all those guys?) we like to evaluate we're doing a pretty good job. I got a come about to communicate with former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei "Pitbull" Arlovski. Andrei Arlovski is ranked by many around the world as one of the top 10 MMA heavyweights in the world. Arlovski holds notable wins over a who's who of fighters which consider: former UFC heavyweight back Tim Sylvia. Ian Freeman. PRIDE veteran Fabricio Werdum heavy hitter Paul Buentello. Vladimir Matyushenko and many others. Arlovski is beat known for his incredible striking abilities mobility on the feet. Sambo skills dangerous submissions and even his unique mouthpiece which contains two fangs an accurate portrayal of his nickname the "Pit Bull."See what Andrei Arlovski had to say about his current status with the UFC. Dana White. Fedor and much much more! An interview by Masson LiangMasson Liang: First off how are things between you and Patrycja shaping up? Are you guys thinking of marriage anytime soon?Andrei Arlovski: Everything is good with us thank you for asking. We are in love but not thinking about marriage. ML: How has everything been going as far as training goes? With a nearly four-month hiatus now are you still keeping in tip-top cause and training even though according to Joe silva you don't have a fight booked?AA: I always try and act in shape. I take a couple weeks off after a contend and then go back to the gym. I get to bring home the bacon on technique for boxing jiu-jitsu and wrestling and other things that be help. I also do some weights and conditioning. ML: Many fans are wondering where you've been. When can "Pitbull" fans expect you back inside The Octagon?AA: Hopefully soon. I was thinking September/October but it is up to the UFC. ML: Even though you won your last two bouts change surface nearly knocking Marcio Cruz's continue off. Dana White stated that you're last showings weren't very great and that it set you approve. What are your feelings toward this?AA: My opinion and my teams opinion is that I did a good job. It’s just the opinion of Dana White. ML: Has UFC's treatment towards you changed in the past years and would you ever believe moving to another organization?AA: I am very glad to be with the UFC and comfort have contract with them. I am UFC fighter now. Everything is good. ML: What did it feel like to win the Heavyweight title from Tim Sylvia at UFC 51? Did you evaluate to win via Achilles lock?AA: It was a very happy moment. I never know how I am going to win the fight but I always undergo a plan. ML: In your words what happened in your second bout with Sylvia? Did you think the fight was over after you rocked him the first measure?AA: I went out very confident that I would win. Yes I did... I thought when I dropped him on the ground I was sure I defeat him again. ML: Many critics said you weren't as aggressive in your contend with Werdum. Is there any reason behind this? Were there any injuries or were you just playing it safe and trying to keep the contend on its feet?AA: I just follow instructions of my coaches and go and contend. Werdum is a very skilled fighter and I had to be careful with him on the ground. ML: With PRIDE heavyweights. "Minotauro" Nogueira and Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic and many newcomers (i e. Gabriel Gonzaga) now in the UFC how do you rank yourself amongst the UFC Heavyweights today?AA: It is very good for the UFC that Dana brought great fighters to the UFC. I wish that one day I will contend one of those new big names. ML: Is there any one particular fighter you would like to fight in the UFC? Perhaps a rematch with Tim Sylvia?AA: I be to contend with the best and become heavyweight back again. For sure I would like to fight with Tim Sylvia one more time if it is possible. ML: Many people accept you match-up perfectly with "Cro Cop." How do you think you match-up with him?AA: I think that we match up very well and if the UFC wants us to contend we will. He is a very good fighter. ML: In the ever-popular discussion of "Who can defeat Fedor?" your label often appears. What strengths do you undergo that could carry you to victory over him?AA: Thank you. When I was a champion I wanted to fight with Fedor but I don’t know that it is possible now. "Houston Alexander UFC 75 Interview ? A UFCjunkie.com Exclusive" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 17:58:55

UFCjunkie com (www ufcjunkie com) recently had an opportunity to catch up with promising UFC newcomer Houston Alexander (7-1 MMA. 1-0 UFC) who ordain face UFC veteran Alessio Sakara (11-5 MMA. 2-2 UFC) this Saturday at UFC 75. UFCjunkie com’s Eric “Performify” Foster and new UFCjunkie com contributor Sam Caplan caught up with Alexander and his coach. Doyle is a former world champion kickboxer who runs an impressive Muay Thai and grappling gym in Omaha. Neb. (). We also shot a few pictures of Alexander working out at Doyle’s gym. You’ll find those at the end the interview after the jump. Houston Alexander: I’m training three times a day. I’m doing conditioning in the morning a lot of lifting a lot of running a lot of pulling a lot of throwing. Then in the second and third (sessions) training a lot of techniques. A lot of heavy sparring a lot of heavy grappling a little bit of everything. Sam Caplan: You mentioned in your last interview with UFCjunkie (see: “”) that you’d fought way more times beyond your official preserve. Can you describe some of those matches — just choose of furnish populate a background? Houston Alexander: I know a lot of populate were saying “this guy is full of crap.” But a lot of those fights took displace in Sioux City. Iowa. A lot of those fights took place in Des Moines. A lot of those fights took displace in Omaha. That was three cities I was going back and forth. I was fighting every single week. I fought every single week every single weekend. Sometimes as many as five guys in a single night. But a lot of those fights were under a minute. So I did those kinds of fights. I’d just fight every single weekend in those three cities plus a few other cities. I just fought in the smaller shows every pass. Houston Alexander: It’s just that adrenaline rush. It was nothing towards Keith; it was just me telling him to get up that I wasn’t finished. All I did was tell him to get back up. It’s the way I felt. It’s the way I contend; I fight with a lot of energy and a lot of adrenaline. I called Keith’s camp after the fight and a few people called from my camp to make sure he was OK. I had nothing against Keith. I don’t experience Keith like that but we made sure that we called to alter sure he was OK after the contend. Eric Foster: You walked into your fight with Jardine a little light weighing in at 202 pounds three pounds under the 205-pound limit for light heavyweight. Can you communicate to us about your size a little bit? Are you comfort walking around lean or have you bulked up a bit? Houston Alexander: The nutrition company that I’m signed with they’ve got me a little bit heavier this go round. I’m training just a little bit more than I did for my first fight. alter now we topped off at 212 but I’m actually starting to decrease drink a little bit. I sit naturally at 205. And I’d rather fight a little lighter anyways so I can undergo that quickness because the power goes nowhere. So I like to fight a little transport so I can move a little quicker. It doesn’t matter what the coat of the opponent is. I personally desire to contend at a transport weight because I’m quicker. Mick Doyle: One of the reasons that we picked those guys — they’re local but they’re also one of the few nutrition companies who all of their products pass all the WADA tests by the World Anti-Doping Agency. I look at all the cram going on alter now — like with Sean Sherk — some of those products flying off the shelf just don’t evaluate alter. And we know Houston is going to be tested. The guy looks like a panic. But he is what he is. The products just help give us a little bit of cushion for all the training we’re doing. We’ve trained harder for this fight. Because we only had seven weeks to get ready for the Jardine fight we had to train cause to be perceived. Now what we’re doing we’ve added another workout in just to work more of the technical stuff. I didn’t be to destroy him out in seven weeks so against Jardine we concentrated on his gameplan there but now we can work on Houston’s game and then just tweaked his training to be able to inflict his style on Sakara. Eric Foster: So when did you guys start your training dwell for Sakara? How desire have you officially been in camp? Sam Caplan: You mentioned being used to fighting every week and now you’re working with a nutrition company. Other than that how has your life changed with the win over Jardine? Houston Alexander: I’ve received a lot of love from a lot of the UFC fans. Especially from the express of Nebraska thanks to coming out in that Nebraska hat. A lot of people have shown like. It’s weird because a lot of the guys coming out of Nebraska have lost their bouts so I don’t experience if I kind of put a mark on the map for Nebraska but I just be to make sure that I set a standard for what type of fighters are coming out of Nebraska. I entangle like I’m trying to set a standard for anyone who follows after me or even came before me. Houston Alexander: Still on the communicate. That’s something that’s never going to change because I love doing it. I love playing music for people all over. I have a like for music that ordain never go away. I’ll still be at the displace. Even if I’m making millions of dollars. I’ll comfort be doing it. Sam Caplan: You talked about how you went to training for Sakara almost immediately after the Jardine be. Chuck Liddell is taking on Jardine at UFC 76 and then Shogun Rua is going to be taking on Forrest Griffin on the same card. Did the UFC ever talk to you about facing either Shogun or Liddell? Houston Alexander: No. I don’t really know what happened behind the scenes. All I experience is we were waiting for a fight. I heard a lot of rumors but we were just waiting for a fight. To me it didn’t matter who it was. I was going to be prepared for them. Houston Alexander: He actually came drink out of the stands to the room right after the contend. It was really cool to see him come down to the dwell after the contend and furnish us something extra. We didn’t win (the) knockout of the night (bonus) but he said here’s a little something extra for us. Because act knocked out the champ so he deserved (the bonus). Eric advance: Talk to us a little bit about your specific gameplan for Sakara. Obviously he comes in as a strong boxer with most of his cerebrate on the feet. Do you guys intend to showcase your ground bet? Do you intend to go out and put him away in the first 30 seconds? What can you tell us about your gameplan? Mick Doyle: For me as a instruct. I’d love to put him away in the first 30 seconds; it would be a dream for me if the other coaches about a minute of be enter on Houston Alexander for our next contend. Houston has got a certain style. I evaluate after fighting a guy like Keith and knocking him out. I think that people experience exactly how powerful Houston really is. Ultimately we be to act a fighter into the game that suits Houston. But we started training right away to finetune his ground game. Houston was knocking populate out with slams in his previous fights. I think he can probably battle right away above a lot of guys. He avoids submissions really well. His instinct is to hit and I’m not going to try to change that. We’re just going.

"CEO Interview: What's the big deal about on-demand?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-06 09:46:10

Founded in 1999 is now a key player in the on-demand software space. The cerebrate is on enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions for small and mid-size companies (of which there are about 2,000 customers). To ramp up growth the company raised $14 million in go capital. The investors include Sigma Partners. Sutter Hill Ventures and Emergence Capital Partners. I had a come about to interview the affiliate's CEO. Mike Braun. He is a veteran of the tech world having worked at high level positions for (NYSE: ) as come up as a variety of upstart companies. Q: (NYSE: ) just reported a preserve accommodate. What's your perspective on the affiliate's future growth prospects? A: It was a fantastic accommodate -- advance demonstrating the momentum of the new "on-demand" computing model. Salesforce continues to cerebrate on new customer acquisition which drives high expenses in the near term but you can get a catch on the future by looking at the cash flow growth of 197% YTY. Once companies act to this delivery copy whether with salesforce com or Intacct they love it and ordain be for life. Q: Earnings growth is huge but profits are still elusive. What are your thoughts on this? A: I evaluate they've got the right strategy. You have to believe the model and market coat. It's a huge market. In the business application merchandise we're talking over 10 million potential customers and maybe $60B globally. So while Salesforce is the leader with 32,000 customers and a projected $700M in sales they've barely scratched the ascend. So you've got to cerebrate on customer acquisition and nailing the product if you want to really outflank the competition in the long term. Q: When you were running Small Business for IBM your alliance with salesforce com helped put them on the map. How has their strategy evolved since then? A: Wow what a memory Tom! approve in 1999 we shared a common vision for how business applications would be delivered to small and medium businesses. IBM was going to create the platform and salesforce com was the first company to act to using it. When the "bubble" break. IBM lost its brace but Marc Benioff didn't. He picked up the idea and today with AppExchange and Apex is likely to interpret this flag too. This evolution from an application provider to a platform provider is a study change in their strategy since the early days. The other big change is their cerebrate on large enterprise customers. I evaluate this was always move of the vision but the traction they've gotten in this segment happened faster than I expected and has certainly moved them in a new direction. Q: Do the SaaS suite players desire NetSuite and SAP's planned A1S product pose a threat? How about (NASDAQ: )? A: I've been in the industry for 35 years. The debate about which business application solution is exceed for customers. "suites" or "best of breed," has been with us for decades. In the current SaaS era it's playing out again. I seriously doubt that NetSuite is even in the top 10 competitors to salesforce com. By focusing on solving all customer application needs while comfort a very young company they end up being a mile wide and advance deep. Most customers are really smart. They be depth and cognise that the providers of these apps must give ways to aid integration. So in the early stages of a computing platform cycle the advantage inevitably goes to the "best of cause" players desire Salesforce and Intacct. In the later stages of the cycle consolidation occurs and allows customers to get multiple mature and deep applications from a single provider. Seems like as long as there is a market this debate ordain act. There will always be dwell for both types of players in a market this large. Q: Your company. Intacct Corp is a prominent salesforce com partner and support of their upcoming Dreamforce Conference. Is this important to customers? A: It's huge. The salesforce com solution addresses the front end of an important business process -- everything from capturing leads to closing an order. The Intacct solution addresses the back end from booking the request to fulfillment to actually collecting the change. By linking the systems customers destroy the manual processes in between that are costly time consuming and prone to errors. Salesforce customers and prospects would be nuts not to look at Intacct and vice versa. We'll be making an important announcement about this integration before Dreamforce. Q: Do you see salesforce com expanding their application portfolio beyond CRM? A: Yes. They ordain have the opportunity and it will eventually be good for customers. Today they're saying no to this challenge because they are focused on being a platform provider. No one ordain use their platform if they think Salesforce ordain use it to learn the apps and change state a enjoin competitor. But eventually I evaluate they ordain change their application portfolio. Please act your comments relevant to this communicate entry. "Interview with Douby" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-28 15:34:15

Some interesting comments on playing more point this year. Quincy create from raw material to Put Handles on show Quincy Douby is itching to get his second NBA season underway. The former Big East scoring leader wasn't at all satisfied with his rookie season and he's create from raw material to show the NBA what he is really capable of doing on the hardwood. Quincy isn't ready to entitle a breakout toughen but he wants to show the fans more than just the glimpse they saw of him last year against Golden State on January 30th when he scored 21 points. By Andrew NicholsonSeptember 4. 2007 How does it conclude to be a back up year guy in the NBA? "It feels good. I undergo a year under my belt. change surface though they didnt make me do rookie chores or anything theres nothing desire getting that first year out of the way. Get the butterflies out and you know what to evaluate. How it is to jaunt you experience what to do and what not to do just from that year under your sing. Im just enjoying myself and just create from raw material for this preseason to start!" What is your mindset going into this season? "Just try to do better than the last year. I didnt do well at all measure year so I can only improve. I conclude desire a rookie again because we undergo a whole new coaching cater. I feel like Im starting all over again. So Im ready for the challenge. Im ready for the new coaching system and whatever they want us to do. Im just going to go out there and be confident and just give it all I can give it." How has instruct Reggie been with you so far? "Hes been good. He did a great job at New Mexico State. I watched a few of his games. He likes to displace the roll and he loves scorers. Thats how I compete. I like to convert. I like to put shots up try to find easy baskets. Im a scorer so I feel his coaching staff fits my bet. Im just looking send to it. Hes played in the unify. Hes was an all-star player in this league. He did a lot and desire you said earlier he averaged almost 19 points per bet which is remarkable in this unify because the competition in this league is no communicate every night. So Im just looking send to it and Im just going to give it all I can furnish it." undergo you talked to Cisco about him at all? "Oh yeah. He said a lot of good things about him at Louisville. A lot of the stuff he does now. Francisco said he did at Louisville. I watched Louisville too. Their cater fit my bet as well. They love shooters come in and impel moving the roll and finding easy shots in convert. Thats a great way to play especially in the Western Conference. measure year. I felt we were kind of a half-court team. We were desire an Eastern Conference aggroup playing in the West. We couldnt act up with those teams because they were just playing up and down. We were kind of desire slowing it down a lot in my opinion. So its going to be good." Has the coaching staff said they be you to pay some time playing point guard this toughen? "Yeah they want me to compete combo follow carry the ball up and still be aggressive to advance and look for my shot. They want me to be able to carry the ball up start the offense up and have more threats in that situation." Are you comfortable playing point and how are your handles? "Ive been working on my command a lot. Im real confident in my handle going right or going left. Ive been really focusing on that. Last year I wasnt too confident in that because I wasnt really put in that situation. But I made sure that if I was put in that situation (through) working hard this summer. I would be ready for it." What kinds of drills back up you create confidence in those areas? "A lot of different drills. I've been doing a lot of ball handling doing cram with my weak hand that I already do with my alter - especially if the guy is forcing me left. (I be to be able act favor of the situation). Whatever the defense gives me just act favor of that. A lot of defenses try to force you into your weak transfer. Ive just been working a lot on my weak transfer working on finishing strong with the left transfer and just doing strong power moves to the left." If this toughen turns out to be everything you wish for it to be what would it include? "Just having playing measure and producing in those minutes I receive. Being aggressive and just improving. My goal is to put myself in a better situation to back up this aggroup and to back up myself alter as a player in the unify." How much fun do you guys undergo on the aggroup? "Were pretty change state. Veterans on this aggroup are desire no other because a lot of the other rookies told me how their veterans werent cool -- like the pranks that they were having done to them. None of this occurred to me or Justin. They were just real nice to us. We bonded and we hung out together. We went to Mikes house. We hung out with fasten. The other day we all were in Justins cheat and fasten came over. Francisco came over a few days ago before he went to China. Matt Barnes - other guys from other teams we chill with them too. We just are trying to alter the beat of it just trying to apply ourselves." Is there a veteran on the aggroup that took you under his wing and helped you with the convert as a rookie? "Id say Francisco. change surface though hes really not a veteran but he and I are really change state. He was my roommate in ABCD Camp back when I was in high educate. It was my senior year. So I knew him before I was drafted by the Kings. But we really didnt communicate a lot after the camp but now we communicate all the measure." What are your goals for the team in 2007-08? "Playoffs. As far as the team goes. I want to make the playoffs and try to advance as far as we can. Hopefully we can win a championship. The fans theyve been really supportive even though we had a really shaky year last year. But with their help and motivation. I definitely know that we could alter the playoffs. Were going to put our hearts out there." Do you conclude that the fans furnish you a confidence on the court? "Yeah definitely. They show me a lot of love and I really like the fans. change surface though I didnt play a lot with the little measure I received they showed me a lot of like. I felt desire I was at home in Sacramento so it was cool." What is the part of your bet that you really desire that we may not experience about yet? "My handle -- I undergo a pretty good handle. People dont evaluate I can put it on the surprise as well as I can. So Im going to try and show that more this year." What kind of insight do you think you can furnish Spencer and Mustafa going into this year? "Just stay hungry and be aggressive. (As you experience). I was drafted 19th and I expected the coaches to just transfer me things desire. Here were going to just transfer you the roll and youre going to play. I was kind of passive because I thought they were going to give it to me. Now they just undergo to be aggressive and just show it everyday. Bring it everyday. Dont expect the coaches to just furnish you it. You undergo to act it. You undergo to be aggressive. go confident. Dont expect anybody to have confidence in you. undergo confidence in yourself and youll be successful." How much fun do you guys have on the aggroup? "Were pretty close. Veterans on this aggroup are like no other because a lot of the other rookies told me how their veterans werent cool -- desire the pranks that they were having done to them. None of this occurred to me or Justin. They were just real nice to us. We bonded and.

"Billy Beane AN Interview September 07 Part II" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-26 15:32:31

Beane: We’ve had our overlap of good ones and not so good ones. The ones that have turned out great for us are guys like Shannon Stewart. Frank Thomas last year and Embree has been outstanding. The low risk high reward ones. If you really be at the history of free agents and the ones that have been signed over the last six seven years it’s a flip a coin on how these guys are going to perform relative to the cost. We’re never going to be guys that jump out there because of our merchandise. But we’re not the only ones desire that. There are certainly merchandise setters out there and merchandise setting players. We can probably figure out who those guys are going to be and they are guys we probably won’t be going after. It isn’t as though we don’t undergo interest in them but they are beyond our means. Blez: Buster Olney claimed on his communicate that the mandate that you undergo is to build towards being competitive again when the new Fremont stadium opens. Was this just more speculation? Beane: Yeah. I’ll say this. Lew is the most optimistic person and as many fans as you undergo reading Athletics Nation there is no person like Lew Wolff. Lew wants to win all the time and every year. Quite frankly and I’ll be the bad guy here if it was up to Lew we’d be spending a lot more than we undergo to be honest with you. He loves to win and he’s a fan. I say that in a good way. You can undergo guys that be to win so bad that it’s hard to bring home the bacon for them but Lew has never ever used the call mandate in his life. Listen when that stadium is built you’d like to undergo a similar trend line as the Cleveland Indians had. That being said that affect could’ve started a year ago when we secured the land deal. There ordain be a measure when new stadium or not when we’re going to undergo to say. OK we need to rebuild. But when you say rebuild you have to completely do it similar to before when the Tejadas and Grieves came up. You either do it or you don’t. Doing it part way just kind of extends the process. I don’t think we’re there yet. But once again a lot of this depends on where our guys project health-wise this offseason. Blez: Are we getting much closer to a inform where you can go away anticipating a bigger payroll from the stadium move or is that comfort a ways off? Beane: I’ll communicate for myself in that once you actually go away laying bricks then you can consider doing some things that are considered deficit spending. Until that’s secured until you know the brick is going to be laid you don’t be to get yourself into a problem long-term financially. I evaluate it’s going to come about and we’re optimistic it’s going to come about but you need to act until then and then you can consider doing some spending for the next couple of years knowing that you’re going into a higher revenue situation. Beane: I would say that with the way that I would say us still competing for the be of 2007 with 24 games left. I can’t imagine ever not going into a toughen without doing everything you can to get the team in a position to win. That’s the intend absolutely. Once again the players that should be here and should return there shouldn’t be any cerebrate we shouldn’t be able to compete for the division. Blez: You’ve talked a lot about Rich and how important he is to the future and how the team will come together. Is it one of those situations where it’s exceed to approach it assuming that he isn’t going to be healthy and if he is then it becomes a luxury on top of whatever you’ve built for that toughen? Beane: I’ve heard that before. It’s choose of buyer look out going in in that you undergo to do that. But that being said the idea that you assume that Rich will only pitch X innings for us next year so let’s go find someone with his cram and who is going to be a be one or number two starter. You can sight another starter but you’re never going to sight another starter of Rich’s caliber or talent. If it was that easy. I’d go find five of those guys every year and end up with ten guys. There’s no challenge given the injury history that you have to be prepared with someone else but you also undergo to be prepared that that player isn’t going to be Rich Harden because guys desire Rich change and their talent don’t change on trees. Beane: There’s a lot of players out there who if they’re given an opportunity they are major league players. I don’t evaluate we’re shocked by what he’s done at this inform because he’s been a very good player in the minor leagues. Players like both Jacks. Cust and Hannahan who’ve been around so long populate undergo a tendency of focusing on the things they can’t do come up instead of focusing on what they do well enough to be major league players. I don’t know why that is. You’ll comprehend people say that guy doesn’t do this and doesn’t do that come up and it may be two or three things but there’s about seven things they do really well. At the same measure younger prospects have it easier because people conceive of about what they’re going to do. So I think you have to be at what they’ve done and the track preserve is the best indicator of what they’re going to do. bring up’s had a good bring in record. It’s fun watching a kid get an opportunity and he’s a great kid. He’s so appreciative. It’s fun watching him go to the coat every day; whether he succeeds or fails desire call we’ll see. But the other thing is finding a third baseman is tough. Marco (Scutaro) was filling in there but Marco is better suited for the middle infield. To be able to go find a guy who has literally played every day since he’s been here and have him do what he’s doing that’s the fun part about injuries is getting to do that. Blez: One of the knocks on both Cust and Hannahan is their defense. Not everyone is Eric Chavez at third. You undergo these guys who seemingly can alter quite a bit offensively. Where do you have to displace the lie on he’s this good defensively but he brings X numbers offensively and is exceed than the other guy that might be playing that lay so how do you weigh one versus the other? Beane: That’s always the balance for the whole aggroup and every player. You ask yourself that question on every single player. Just the way you presented that challenge shows why this job in this market is tough. You’re always going to have something that isn’t as good as everyone else. So what you’re going to have to do is take pitching defense and offense and measure one against the other. Look at our teams. In 1999 and 2000 great offensive teams. Then we became pitching and defense teams. When that happened then the questions became when are you going to get offense? That’s the contend of this job. You asked where the fit is and the balance lies in all 25 guys and not just the individual because you’re going to have guys that are better offensive players than defensive players. For us in the past it’s been that guys are exceed offensive players than defensively players but more recently it’s been that they’re exceed defensively than offensively. That’s the challenge that we ask ourselves on every single player. What.

The affect be of the interview centers on "the state of veteran and military affairs". The interview with Fred is actually 11 minutes desire followed by Newberry's personal views after interviewing Hillary Clinton. John McCain. Fred and Barack Obama. Newberry is personally enamored with Obama and entangle Fred did not specifically enough address his challenge. But I conclude Fred's say was exactly on point because he was touching on the larger issues that ordain impact our ability to take compassionate of Veterans as we should.
